SALISBURY, N.C. – Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is joining colleges and universities across the nation in celebrating National Transfer Student Week, held annually during the third week of October. The week recognizes the achievements and contributions of transfer students and highlights the partnerships and programs that support transfer success.

National Transfer Student Week encourages campuses nationwide to challenge assumptions, build empathy, and recognize the importance of transfer pathways in higher education. Rowan-Cabarrus continues to strengthen these efforts through ongoing collaboration, advising and partnerships that help students move forward in their educational journeys.

“Transfer students demonstrate determination and ambition, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way,” said Rowan-Cabarrus President Dr. Carol S. Spalding. “Our goal is to provide pathways that empower students to reach their academic and career aspirations. Rowan-Cabarrus works closely with our four-year partners to ensure students have the guidance and resources they need to continue their education with confidence.”

Rowan-Cabarrus offers a variety of transfer pathways that allow students to continue their education after completing an associate degree. These efforts are built on the statewide North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, which ensure community college students can transfer credits smoothly to public and independent universities across the state.

“Transfer success depends on strong collaboration between institutions and a shared commitment to helping students reach their goals,” said Rowan-Cabarrus Vice President of Academic Programs Dr. Michael Quillen. “Through our partnerships with universities across North Carolina, we are building clear pathways that make it easier for students to continue their education with confidence and support.”

Building on this foundation, Rowan-Cabarrus has established more than 15 enhanced transfer partnerships with colleges and universities throughout North Carolina. These partnerships offer additional benefits such as guaranteed admission, capped tuition rates, and dedicated advising, providing students with extra support and clarity as they transition into four-year programs.

Gracie King, a 2024 graduate of Rowan-Cabarrus, pursued transfer opportunities through the College to continue her education in human services and shared how her experience at Rowan-Cabarrus prepared her for the next step in her education. “It made the transition easier knowing my credits would transfer seamlessly,” King said. “The support I received gave me confidence to continue toward my degree without starting over, and it also helped me save on tuition.”

As Rowan-Cabarrus continues to strengthen transfer opportunities for students, the College remains dedicated to guiding students on the next step of their educational journey and connecting them with the resources to achieve lasting success.
